The 59th Aoussou Festival 2018

  • Along the tourist road (Corniche), overlooking the beach of “Boujaafar” in Sousse, Tunisia, carts carrying symbols and huge dolls summarizing the privacy of the coastal city followed, to give the start of the “Osu Carnival” in its 59th session.
  •  On Thursday evening, the city lived to the sound of music, colors and rhythms, accompanied by a crowd of about a thousand spectators, according to security sources.
  • Parading carnival wagons to attract the attention of the public to keep watching the carnival, such as, Aouessou wagon which carries the “God of the Sea” in a simulation of a historical myth, and a brass band, a dancer, folk bands

  • The “Beauties of the Sea” vehicle also included what the Mediterranean Sea provides to the people of the coast, such as fish, coral, and other marine resources.
  • The performances presented during the “carnival”, which lasted for more than two hours, varied, with a review of Tunisian Sufi groups and dance paintings that witnessed development and diversity in the performances, with the participation of performance groups from the French city of Nice, and others from Algeria and Russia.
  • The carnival falls within the framework of the "Osu Festival", which coincides with the 61st anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic, which falls on July 25 of each year.
  •  “The festival witnessed a great popular turnout during the launch of the candles (which is a custom that the organizers used to do on the night before the carnival).”
